If you follow my blog, you know that from time to time I like to post unsolicited reviews to give you the 411 on the baby products that I am using. I manage to always do my research before I purchase something because I don’t want to throw my money away (I don’t have enough for that… yet).
But every now and then a product comes along that sucks! And today’s lucky winner is Safety 1st Adjustable Safety Strap!
This product seemed like a great alternative to a standard drawer latch because it didn’t require drilling. We have an Ikea dresser in Sophia’s room that also doubles as her changing table and the last thing you want to do is drill into Ikea furniture for fear it might break. If you’ve ever had Ikea furniture, you know what I’m talking about.
So we opted to purchase the Safety 1st Adjustable Safety Strap. It was easy to install and worked very well for the first week. And then the straps started to unstick.
The straps come with double sided tape that stick really well to the furniture. You can’t get that sucker off for anything in the world! However, the same cannot be said for the actual strap itself. The double sided tape keeps coming off the strap!
So I am left with no choice but to dump these (and leave the double sided tape as decorative elements on the front of the drawers since it won’t come off!) and buy the standard latches and drill them in.
Thanks for NOTHING Safety 1st!
